Sitting down with the Mitchell's of Westworth Village

For our July/August newsletter, I had the great privilege to sit down with the Mitchell Family.Ben and Sherry Mitchell moved into their one-story, Westworth Village home at the end of 2018. After searching for a one-story home that met criteria on their wish list, the newlywed, empty-nesters found exactly what they had been searching for. Originally, the Fort Worth natives sought an older home, one that had the architectural elements they preferred. However, once having looked all over Fort Worth, they still had not found the home that met their needs. They had strongly considered building their own home but quickly recognized that in their stage of life, it was not the right answer. They were familiar with Village Homes, its reputation and quality of work. One day, they received a flyer about a move-in ready home that was available. Finally, they met their perfect match.

I was greeted at the door with a big smile and the extremely welcoming spirit of Ben Mitchell. From that moment, I knew I was in for a treat. As expected, Sherry gave me nothing short of the same type of welcome as I walked into their open-concept kitchen dining and living room that had lots of natural light, high ceilings and curved archways. In all, the 2,400 sq. ft home featured 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a study, a formal dining area and an attached 2-car garage. They were happily and comfortably settled into their new place.

The central location and growth of Westworth Village really drew them to the area. The revitalized energy was very appealing to be a part of as Westworth Village continues to grow. Melding with the new, the mature surroundings remain: large, canopy trees and green spaces. It continues to be an established neighborhood with timeless charm but it is moving towards growth and revitalization.

When asked why Ben and Sherry chose Village Homes, they said they had a list and the home met all of the requirements. In addition to the list, and what stood out in their minds, was the quality, appearance, follow-up and the treatment from the Village Homes’ team. As Ben said, “Here’s the bottom line: The Village Homes people are just so easy to work with. You may think you know what you want, but they offer great ideas and great advice.” Sherry added, “The people at Village are relational. At the end of the day, having integrity and treating people well is really the roadmap at Village Homes.”

Ben and Sherry would like to offer a piece of advice to future homebuyers. "Start the process early so you really know what you want. Be aware of where you are in life and know how you will live in your home. Do not let the appearance, or location, blind you from what is really going on inside. Finally, choose 3-4 builders. Walk multiple homes of theirs to really understand the quality of their build. Most importantly, take your time."

A huge thank you to the Mitchell’s! We are proud to have you in the Village Homes family.
